This was a very interesting project as it involved recreating a ring sympethetically to the original, but in a more substantial way. The old ring was sentimental but had been repaired numerous times. We took the diamonds out and reset them into a design similar to the original and in keeping with the Victorian style of the original ring. We only manufactured the top half of the ring (the head) and then remelted the original ring to make the other half (shank) of the ring. This way the whole piece was reused in the process. Once the stones were set the ring was hand engraved on the walls of the settings with a Victorian scroll work style.
