Information about different metal types:

9ct Yellow Gold // Alloyed with copper, silver and others to retain a yellow colour.
9 parts Gold to 15 parts alloy, hence 9ct. Creating a hard wearing material as it contains less Gold, which is quite soft. The hallmark of '375' means that the piece has 37.5% pure gold and the rest is made up of alloyed metal to help alter the colour of the metal.

18ct Yellow Gold // Alloyed with copper, silver and others to retain a yellow colour.
18 parts Gold to 6 parts alloy, hence 18ct. Creating a ring that is denser than most other purities, both rich in colour and suitable for most people to wear everyday.

Silver // Is a naturally white metal and is quite soft by comparison to the other precious metals. Silver can be worn as a ring but will show marks fairly easily and could be prone to distortion if worn everyday all the time. Silver is instead more well suited to items like earrings, pendants or brooches. This is because these items are less likely to come into contact with things that could damage the metal day to day.
