This lovely little Heron brooch with a 9ct Yellow gold frame is absolutely beautiful. A quaint reminder of a bygone era where people still liked to adorn their lapels.
The scroll work is all 9ct (and marked as such) but I believe a small part of the base of the ceramic mount may be base metal.
This little portrait of a Heron in surrounding grass really captures a moment in time, unlike other brooches of the period which typically dipicted people, this makes the item slightly un-usual.
As the picture shows the rear has a bar pin fastening which is slightly sprung.
